78:1

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ﴿١﴾

About what are they asking one another?

78:2

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٢﴾

About the great news -

78:3

ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿٣﴾

That over which they are in disagreement.

78:4

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾

No! They are going to know.

78:5

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٥﴾

Then, no! They are going to know.

78:6

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا ﴿٦﴾

Have We not made the earth a resting place?

78:7

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا ﴿٧﴾

And the mountains as stakes?

78:8

وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٲجًا ﴿٨﴾

And We created you in pairs

78:9

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا ﴿٩﴾

And made your sleep [a means for] rest

78:10

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا ﴿١٠﴾

And made the night as clothing

78:11

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا ﴿١١﴾

And made the day for livelihood

78:12

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا ﴿١٢﴾

And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

78:13

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا ﴿١٣﴾

And made [therein] a burning lamp

78:14

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٲتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا ﴿١٤﴾

And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water

78:15

لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا ﴿١٥﴾

That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation

78:16

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا ﴿١٦﴾

And gardens of entwined growth.

78:17

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا ﴿١٧﴾

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

78:18

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا ﴿١٨﴾

The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

78:19

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٲبًا ﴿١٩﴾

And the heaven is opened and will become gateways

78:20

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا ﴿٢٠﴾

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

78:21

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا ﴿٢١﴾

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

78:22

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔـابًا ﴿٢٢﴾

For the transgressors, a place of return,

78:23

لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا ﴿٢٣﴾

In which they will remain for ages [unending].

78:24

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا ﴿٢٤﴾

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink

78:25

إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا ﴿٢٥﴾

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

78:26

جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا ﴿٢٦﴾

An appropriate recompense.

78:27

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا ﴿٢٧﴾

Indeed, they were not expecting an account

78:28

وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا ﴿٢٨﴾

And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

78:29

وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا ﴿٢٩﴾

But all things We have enumerated in writing.

78:30

فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا ﴿٣٠﴾

"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."

78:31

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا ﴿٣١﴾

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment -

78:32

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا ﴿٣٢﴾

Gardens and grapevines

78:33

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا ﴿٣٣﴾

And full-breasted [companions] of equal age

78:34

وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا ﴿٣٤﴾

And a full cup.

78:35

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٲبًا ﴿٣٥﴾

No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

78:36

جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا ﴿٣٦﴾

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

78:37

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ‌ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا ﴿٣٧﴾

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

78:38

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا‌ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا ﴿٣٨﴾

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

78:39

ذَٲلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ‌ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔـابًا ﴿٣٩﴾

That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

78:40

إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٲبَۢا ﴿٤٠﴾

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"

79:1

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا ﴿١﴾

By those [angels] who extract with violence

79:2

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا ﴿٢﴾

And [by] those who remove with ease

79:3

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا ﴿٣﴾

And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming

79:4

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا ﴿٤﴾

And those who race each other in a race

79:5

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٲتِ أَمْرًا ﴿٥﴾

And those who arrange [each] matter,

79:6

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ ﴿٦﴾

On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],

79:7

تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ ﴿٧﴾

There will follow it the subsequent [one].

79:8

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ ﴿٨﴾

Hearts, that Day, will tremble,

79:9

أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ ﴿٩﴾

Their eyes humbled.

79:10

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ ﴿١٠﴾

They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?

79:11

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً ﴿١١﴾

Even if we should be decayed bones?

79:12

قَالُواْ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ ﴿١٢﴾

They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."

79:13

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٲحِدَةٌ ﴿١٣﴾

Indeed, it will be but one shout,

79:14

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ ﴿١٤﴾

And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.

79:15

هَلْ أَتَـٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ﴿١٥﴾

Has there reached you the story of Moses? -

79:16

إِذْ نَادَٮٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى ﴿١٦﴾

When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,

79:17

ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ ﴿١٧﴾

"Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.

79:18

فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ ﴿١٨﴾

And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself

79:19

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ ﴿١٩﴾

And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"

79:20

فَأَرَٮٰهُ ٱلْأَيَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ﴿٢٠﴾

And he showed him the greatest sign,

79:21

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ ﴿٢١﴾

But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed.

79:22

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ ﴿٢٢﴾

Then he turned his back, striving.

79:23

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ ﴿٢٣﴾

And he gathered [his people] and called out

79:24

فَقَالَ أَنَا۟ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ﴿٢٤﴾

And said, "I am your most exalted lord."

79:25

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ ﴿٢٥﴾

So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression].

79:26

إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ ﴿٢٦﴾

Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah].

79:27

ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ‌ۚ بَنَـٰهَا ﴿٢٧﴾

Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it.

79:28

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّٮٰهَا ﴿٢٨﴾

He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.

79:29

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَـٰهَا ﴿٢٩﴾

And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.

79:30

وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٲلِكَ دَحَـٰهَآ ﴿٣٠﴾

And after that He spread the earth.

79:31

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَـٰهَا ﴿٣١﴾

He extracted from it its water and its pasture,

79:32

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَـٰهَا ﴿٣٢﴾

And the mountains He set firmly

79:33

مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ ﴿٣٣﴾

As provision for you and your grazing livestock.

79:34

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ﴿٣٤﴾

But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -

79:35

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ ﴿٣٥﴾

The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,

79:36

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ ﴿٣٦﴾

And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -

79:37

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ ﴿٣٧﴾

So as for he who transgressed

79:38

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٲةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ﴿٣٨﴾

And preferred the life of the world,

79:39

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ ﴿٣٩﴾

Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.

79:40

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ ﴿٤٠﴾

But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,

79:41

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ ﴿٤١﴾

Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.

79:42

يَسْــَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَـٰهَا ﴿٤٢﴾

They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?

79:43

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَٮٰهَآ ﴿٤٣﴾

In what [position] are you that you should mention it?

79:44

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَـٰهَآ ﴿٤٤﴾

To your Lord is its finality.

79:45

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَـٰهَا ﴿٤٥﴾

You are only a warner for those who fear it.

79:46

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَـٰهَا ﴿٤٦﴾

It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.

80:1

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١﴾

The Prophet frowned and turned away

80:2

أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ﴿٢﴾

Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].

80:3

وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾

But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified

80:4

أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ﴿٤﴾

Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?

80:5

أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

As for he who thinks himself without need,

80:6

فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ﴿٦﴾

To him you give attention.

80:7

وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ﴿٧﴾

And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.

80:8

وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]

80:9

وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

While he fears [Allah],

80:10

فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

From him you are distracted.

80:11

كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ ﴿١١﴾

No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;

80:12

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿١٢﴾

So whoever wills may remember it.

80:13

فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ ﴿١٣﴾

[It is recorded] in honored sheets,

80:14

مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةِۭ ﴿١٤﴾

Exalted and purified,

80:15

بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾

[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,

80:16

كِرَامِۭ بَرَرَةٍ ﴿١٦﴾

Noble and dutiful.

80:17

قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾

Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.

80:18

مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾

From what substance did He create him?

80:19

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾

From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;

80:20

ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ﴿٢٠﴾

Then He eased the way for him;

80:21

ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ﴿٢١﴾

Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.

80:22

ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٢﴾

Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.

80:23

كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٣﴾

No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.

80:24

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ﴿٢٤﴾

Then let mankind look at his food -

80:25

أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا ﴿٢٥﴾

How We poured down water in torrents,

80:26

ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا ﴿٢٦﴾

Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],

80:27

فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا ﴿٢٧﴾

And caused to grow within it grain

80:28

وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا ﴿٢٨﴾

And grapes and herbage

80:29

وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلاً ﴿٢٩﴾

And olive and palm trees

80:30

وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا ﴿٣٠﴾

And gardens of dense shrubbery

80:31

وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا ﴿٣١﴾

And fruit and grass -

80:32

مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ ﴿٣٢﴾

[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.

80:33

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ﴿٣٣﴾

But when there comes the Deafening Blast

80:34

يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ﴿٣٤﴾

On the Day a man will flee from his brother

80:35

وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ﴿٣٥﴾

And his mother and his father

80:36

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ﴿٣٦﴾

And his wife and his children,

80:37

لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِىٍٕ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ ﴿٣٧﴾

For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.

80:38

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾

[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -

80:39

ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ ﴿٣٩﴾

Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

80:40

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

80:41

تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ﴿٤١﴾

Blackness will cover them.

80:42

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ﴿٤٢﴾

Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.

81:1

إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ ﴿١﴾

When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]

81:2

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ ﴿٢﴾

And when the stars fall, dispersing,

81:3

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ ﴿٣﴾

And when the mountains are removed

81:4

وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ ﴿٤﴾

And when full-term she-camels are neglected

81:5

وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ ﴿٥﴾

And when the wild beasts are gathered

81:6

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ ﴿٦﴾

And when the seas are filled with flame

81:7

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ ﴿٧﴾

And when the souls are paired

81:8

وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ ﴿٨﴾

And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked

81:9

بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ ﴿٩﴾

For what sin she was killed

81:10

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ ﴿١٠﴾

And when the pages are made public

81:11

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ ﴿١١﴾

And when the sky is stripped away

81:12

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ ﴿١٢﴾

And when Hellfire is set ablaze

81:13

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ ﴿١٣﴾

And when Paradise is brought near,

81:14

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ ﴿١٤﴾

A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].

81:15

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ ﴿١٥﴾

So I swear by the retreating stars -

81:16

ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ ﴿١٦﴾

Those that run [their courses] and disappear -

81:17

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ ﴿١٧﴾

And by the night as it closes in

81:18

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ ﴿١٨﴾

And by the dawn when it breathes

81:19

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ﴿١٩﴾

[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger

81:20

ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ ﴿٢٠﴾

[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],

81:21

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ ﴿٢١﴾

Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.

81:22

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ ﴿٢٢﴾

And your companion is not [at all] mad.

81:23

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ﴿٢٣﴾

And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.

81:24

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ ﴿٢٤﴾

And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.

81:25

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ ﴿٢٥﴾

And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].

81:26

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

So where are you going?

81:27

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٢٧﴾

It is not except a reminder to the worlds

81:28

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ ﴿٢٨﴾

For whoever wills among you to take a right course.

81:29

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾

And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.

82:1

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ ﴿١﴾

When the sky breaks apart

82:2

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ ﴿٢﴾

And when the stars fall, scattering,

82:3

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ ﴿٣﴾

And when the seas are erupted

82:4

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ ﴿٤﴾

And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,

82:5

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ ﴿٥﴾

A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.

82:6

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ ﴿٦﴾

O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,

82:7

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّٮٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ ﴿٧﴾

Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?

82:8

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ ﴿٨﴾

In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.

82:9

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ ﴿٩﴾

No! But you deny the Recompense.

82:10

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ ﴿١٠﴾

And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,

82:11

كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ ﴿١١﴾

Noble and recording;

82:12

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ ﴿١٢﴾

They know whatever you do.

82:13

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ ﴿١٣﴾

Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,

82:14

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ ﴿١٤﴾

And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.

82:15

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿١٥﴾

They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,

82:16

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ ﴿١٦﴾

And never therefrom will they be absent.

82:17

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿١٧﴾

And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

82:18

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿١٨﴾

Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

82:19

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْــًٔا‌ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ ﴿١٩﴾

It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.

83:1

وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ ﴿١﴾

Woe to those who give less [than due],

83:2

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ﴿٢﴾

Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

83:3

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ﴿٣﴾

But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

83:4

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ ﴿٤﴾

Do they not think that they will be resurrected

83:5

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ﴿٥﴾

For a tremendous Day -

83:6

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٦﴾

The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

83:7

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ ﴿٧﴾

No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

83:8

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ﴿٨﴾

And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

83:9

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ﴿٩﴾

It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.

83:10

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١٠﴾

Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

83:11

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿١١﴾

Who deny the Day of Recompense.

83:12

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ﴿١٢﴾

And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

83:13

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٣﴾

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

83:14

كَلَّا‌ۖ بَلْۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿١٤﴾

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

83:15

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ ﴿١٥﴾

No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.

83:16

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُواْ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ﴿١٦﴾

Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

83:17

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿١٧﴾

Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

83:18

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ ﴿١٨﴾

No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun.

83:19

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ ﴿١٩﴾

And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun?

83:20

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ﴿٢٠﴾

It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed

83:21

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿٢١﴾

Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah].

83:22

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ ﴿٢٢﴾

Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

83:23

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

On adorned couches, observing.

83:24

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٢٤﴾

You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

83:25

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ ﴿٢٥﴾

They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.

83:26

خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ‌ۚ وَفِى ذَٲلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

83:27

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ ﴿٢٧﴾

And its mixture is of Tasneem,

83:28

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink.

83:29

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضْحَكُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾

Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

83:30

وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

83:31

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ ﴿٣١﴾

And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

83:32

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

83:33

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ ﴿٣٣﴾

But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

83:34

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾

So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

83:35

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

On adorned couches, observing.

83:36

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?

84:1

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ ﴿١﴾

When the sky has split [open]

84:2

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ﴿٢﴾

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

84:3

وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ ﴿٣﴾

And when the earth has been extended

84:4

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ ﴿٤﴾

And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]

84:5

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ﴿٥﴾

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -

84:6

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ ﴿٦﴾

O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.

84:7

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ﴿٧﴾

Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,

84:8

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا ﴿٨﴾

He will be judged with an easy account

84:9

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ﴿٩﴾

And return to his people in happiness.

84:10

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ ﴿١٠﴾

But as for he who is given his record behind his back,

84:11

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُواْ ثُبُورًا ﴿١١﴾

He will cry out for destruction

84:12

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا ﴿١٢﴾

And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.

84:13

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ﴿١٣﴾

Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;

84:14

إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ ﴿١٤﴾

Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].

84:15

بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا ﴿١٥﴾

But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.

84:16

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ﴿١٦﴾

So I swear by the twilight glow

84:17

وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ﴿١٧﴾

And [by] the night and what it envelops

84:18

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ ﴿١٨﴾

And [by] the moon when it becomes full

84:19

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ ﴿١٩﴾

[That] you will surely experience state after state.

84:20

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٢٠﴾

So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,

84:21

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩ ﴿٢١﴾

And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?

84:22

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٢٢﴾

But those who have disbelieved deny,

84:23

وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.

84:24

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴿٢٤﴾

So give them tidings of a painful punishment,

84:25

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونِۭ ﴿٢٥﴾

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.

85:1

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ ﴿١﴾

By the sky containing great stars

85:2

وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ ﴿٢﴾

And [by] the promised Day

85:3

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ ﴿٣﴾

And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,

85:4

قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ ﴿٤﴾

Cursed were the companions of the trench

85:5

ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ ﴿٥﴾

[Containing] the fire full of fuel,

85:6

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ ﴿٦﴾

When they were sitting near it

85:7

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ ﴿٧﴾

And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.

85:8

وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ ﴿٨﴾

And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,

85:9

ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ ﴿٩﴾

To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.

85:10

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ ﴿١٠﴾

Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

85:11

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ ﴿١١﴾

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.

85:12

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ ﴿١٢﴾

Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

85:13

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ ﴿١٣﴾

Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

85:14

وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ ﴿١٤﴾

And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

85:15

ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ ﴿١٥﴾

Honorable Owner of the Throne,

85:16

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ ﴿١٦﴾

Effecter of what He intends.

85:17

هَلْ أَتَـٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ ﴿١٧﴾

Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -

85:18

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ ﴿١٨﴾

[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud?

85:19

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ ﴿١٩﴾

But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,

85:20

وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ ﴿٢٠﴾

While Allah encompasses them from behind.

85:21

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ ﴿٢١﴾

But this is an honored Qur'an

85:22

فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظِۭ ﴿٢٢﴾

[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.

86:1

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ ﴿١﴾

By the sky and the night comer -

86:2

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ ﴿٢﴾

And what can make you know what is the night comer?

86:3

ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ ﴿٣﴾

It is the piercing star -

86:4

إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ ﴿٤﴾

There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

86:5

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ ﴿٥﴾

So let man observe from what he was created.

86:6

خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ ﴿٦﴾

He was created from a fluid, ejected,

86:7

يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ ﴿٧﴾

Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

86:8

إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ ﴿٨﴾

Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able.

86:9

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ ﴿٩﴾

The Day when secrets will be put on trial,

86:10

فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ ﴿١٠﴾

Then man will have no power or any helper.

86:11

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ ﴿١١﴾

By the sky which returns [rain]

86:12

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ ﴿١٢﴾

And [by] the earth which cracks open,

86:13

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ ﴿١٣﴾

Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,

86:14

وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ ﴿١٤﴾

And it is not amusement.

86:15

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ﴿١٥﴾

Indeed, they are planning a plan,

86:16

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا ﴿١٦﴾

But I am planning a plan.

86:17

فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدَۢا ﴿١٧﴾

So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.

87:1

سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى ﴿١﴾

Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,

87:2

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ﴿٢﴾

Who created and proportioned

87:3

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ ﴿٣﴾

And who destined and [then] guided

87:4

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ ﴿٤﴾

And who brings out the pasture

87:5

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

And [then] makes it black stubble.

87:6

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ ﴿٦﴾

We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget,

87:7

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ ﴿٧﴾

Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.

87:8

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

And We will ease you toward ease.

87:9

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

So remind, if the reminder should benefit;

87:10

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.

87:11

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى ﴿١١﴾

But the wretched one will avoid it -

87:12

ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ﴿١٢﴾

[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,

87:13

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ ﴿١٣﴾

Neither dying therein nor living.

87:14

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ ﴿١٤﴾

He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself

87:15

وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ ﴿١٥﴾

And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.

87:16

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٲةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ﴿١٦﴾

But you prefer the worldly life,

87:17

وَٱلْأَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ﴿١٧﴾

While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

87:18

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴿١٨﴾

Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,

87:19

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٲهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ﴿١٩﴾

The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

88:1

هَلْ أَتَـٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ ﴿١﴾

Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?

88:2

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ ﴿٢﴾

[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,

88:3

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ﴿٣﴾

Working [hard] and exhausted.

88:4

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ﴿٤﴾

They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.

88:5

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ ﴿٥﴾

They will be given drink from a boiling spring.

88:6

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ﴿٦﴾

For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant

88:7

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ ﴿٧﴾

Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.

88:8

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ﴿٨﴾

[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.

88:9

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ﴿٩﴾

With their effort [they are] satisfied

88:10

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ﴿١٠﴾

In an elevated garden,

88:11

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً ﴿١١﴾

Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.

88:12

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ﴿١٢﴾

Within it is a flowing spring.

88:13

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ﴿١٣﴾

Within it are couches raised high

88:14

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ﴿١٤﴾

And cups put in place

88:15

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ﴿١٥﴾

And cushions lined up

88:16

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ﴿١٦﴾

And carpets spread around.

88:17

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ﴿١٧﴾

Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?

88:18

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ﴿١٨﴾

And at the sky - how it is raised?

88:19

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ﴿١٩﴾

And at the mountains - how they are erected?

88:20

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ﴿٢٠﴾

And at the earth - how it is spread out?

88:21

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ﴿٢١﴾

So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder.

88:22

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ﴿٢٢﴾

You are not over them a controller.

88:23

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ﴿٢٣﴾

However, he who turns away and disbelieves -

88:24

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ ﴿٢٤﴾

Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.

88:25

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ ﴿٢٥﴾

Indeed, to Us is their return.

88:26

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ﴿٢٦﴾

Then indeed, upon Us is their account.

89:1

وَٱلْفَجْرِ ﴿١﴾

By the dawn

89:2

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ ﴿٢﴾

And [by] ten nights

89:3

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ ﴿٣﴾

And [by] the even [number] and the odd

89:4

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ﴿٤﴾

And [by] the night when it passes,

89:5

هَلْ فِى ذَٲلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ ﴿٥﴾

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

89:6

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ﴿٦﴾

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

89:7

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ ﴿٧﴾

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

89:8

ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ ﴿٨﴾

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

89:9

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ ﴿٩﴾

And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

89:10

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ ﴿١٠﴾

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

89:11

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْاْ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ ﴿١١﴾

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

89:12

فَأَكْثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ ﴿١٢﴾

And increased therein the corruption.

89:13

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ ﴿١٣﴾

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

89:14

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ ﴿١٤﴾

Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

89:15

فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ ﴿١٥﴾

And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

89:16

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَـٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ ﴿١٦﴾

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

89:17

كَلَّا‌ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ ﴿١٧﴾

No! But you do not honor the orphan

89:18

وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ﴿١٨﴾

And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

89:19

وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلاً لَّمًّا ﴿١٩﴾

And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

89:20

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا ﴿٢٠﴾

And you love wealth with immense love.

89:21

كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا ﴿٢١﴾

No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

89:22

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا ﴿٢٢﴾

And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

89:23

وَجِاْىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ‌ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ﴿٢٣﴾

And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

89:24

يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى ﴿٢٤﴾

He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

89:25

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢٥﴾

So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

89:26

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢٦﴾

And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

89:27

يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ﴿٢٧﴾

[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

89:28

ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً ﴿٢٨﴾

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

89:29

فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى ﴿٢٩﴾

And enter among My [righteous] servants

89:30

وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى ﴿٣٠﴾

And enter My Paradise."

90:1

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ﴿١﴾

I swear by this city, Makkah -

90:2

وَأَنتَ حِلُّۢ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ﴿٢﴾

And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city -

90:3

وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ ﴿٣﴾

And [by] the father and that which was born [of him],

90:4

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ ﴿٤﴾

We have certainly created man into hardship.

90:5

أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ﴿٥﴾

Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?

90:6

يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالاً لُّبَدًا ﴿٦﴾

He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."

90:7

أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ ﴿٧﴾

Does he think that no one has seen him?

90:8

أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ ﴿٨﴾

Have We not made for him two eyes?

90:9

وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ﴿٩﴾

And a tongue and two lips?

90:10

وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ ﴿١٠﴾

And have shown him the two ways?

90:11

فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ ﴿١١﴾

But he has not broken through the difficult pass.

90:12

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ ﴿١٢﴾

And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?

90:13

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ﴿١٣﴾

It is the freeing of a slave

90:14

أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ ﴿١٤﴾

Or feeding on a day of severe hunger

90:15

يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾

An orphan of near relationship

90:16

أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ ﴿١٦﴾

Or a needy person in misery

90:17

ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَوَاصَوْاْ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْاْ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ ﴿١٧﴾

And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.

90:18

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ﴿١٨﴾

Those are the companions of the right.

90:19

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْــَٔمَةِ ﴿١٩﴾

But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.

90:20

عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةُۢ ﴿٢٠﴾

Over them will be fire closed in.

91:1

وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَـٰهَا ﴿١﴾

By the sun and its brightness

91:2

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَـٰهَا ﴿٢﴾

And [by] the moon when it follows it

91:3

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّـٰهَا ﴿٣﴾

And [by] the day when it displays it

91:4

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَـٰهَا ﴿٤﴾

And [by] the night when it covers it

91:5

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَـٰهَا ﴿٥﴾

And [by] the sky and He who constructed it

91:6

وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَـٰهَا ﴿٦﴾

And [by] the earth and He who spread it

91:7

وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّٮٰهَا ﴿٧﴾

And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it

91:8

فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَٮٰهَا ﴿٨﴾

And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,

91:9

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّـٰهَا ﴿٩﴾

He has succeeded who purifies it,

91:10

وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّـٰهَا ﴿١٠﴾

And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].

91:11

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَٮٰهَآ ﴿١١﴾

Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,

91:12

إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَـٰهَا ﴿١٢﴾

When the most wretched of them was sent forth.

91:13

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَـٰهَا ﴿١٣﴾

And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."

91:14

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّٮٰهَا ﴿١٤﴾

But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].

91:15

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَـٰهَا ﴿١٥﴾

And He does not fear the consequence thereof.

92:1

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ ﴿١﴾

By the night when it covers

92:2

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ ﴿٢﴾

And [by] the day when it appears

92:3

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾

And [by] He who created the male and female,

92:4

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ ﴿٤﴾

Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

92:5

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

As for he who gives and fears Allah

92:6

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ﴿٦﴾

And believes in the best [reward],

92:7

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ﴿٧﴾

We will ease him toward ease.

92:8

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

92:9

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

And denies the best [reward],

92:10

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

We will ease him toward difficulty.

92:11

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ ﴿١١﴾

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

92:12

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ ﴿١٢﴾

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

92:13

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْأَخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴿١٣﴾

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

92:14

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ ﴿١٤﴾

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

92:15

لَا يَصْلَـٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى ﴿١٥﴾

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.

92:16

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٦﴾

Who had denied and turned away.

92:17

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى ﴿١٧﴾

But the righteous one will avoid it -

92:18

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ ﴿١٨﴾

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

92:19

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ ﴿١٩﴾

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

92:20

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ﴿٢٠﴾

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.

92:21

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ ﴿٢١﴾

And he is going to be satisfied.

93:1

وَٱلضُّحَىٰ ﴿١﴾

By the morning brightness

93:2

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ ﴿٢﴾

And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,

93:3

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ ﴿٣﴾

Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].

93:4

وَلَلْأَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴿٤﴾

And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].

93:5

وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰٓ ﴿٥﴾

And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.

93:6

أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَـَٔـاوَىٰ ﴿٦﴾

Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?

93:7

وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلاًّ فَهَدَىٰ ﴿٧﴾

And He found you lost and guided [you],

93:8

وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلاً فَأَغْنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.

93:9

فَأَمَّا ٱلْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ ﴿٩﴾

So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].

93:10

وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ ﴿١٠﴾

And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].

93:11

وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿١١﴾

But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].

94:1

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ﴿١﴾

Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?

94:2

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ﴿٢﴾

And We removed from you your burden

94:3

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ﴿٣﴾

Which had weighed upon your back

94:4

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ﴿٤﴾

And raised high for you your repute.

94:5

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٥﴾

For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

94:6

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٦﴾

Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

94:7

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ ﴿٧﴾

So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].

94:8

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب ﴿٨﴾

And to your Lord direct [your] longing.

95:1

وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيْتُونِ ﴿١﴾

By the fig and the olive

95:2

وَطُورِ سِينِينَ ﴿٢﴾

And [by] Mount Sinai

95:3

وَهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ٱلْأَمِينِ ﴿٣﴾

And [by] this secure city [Makkah],

95:4

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِىٓ أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ ﴿٤﴾

We have certainly created man in the best of stature;

95:5

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَـٰهُ أَسْفَلَ سَـٰفِلِينَ ﴿٥﴾

Then We return him to the lowest of the low,

95:6

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴿٦﴾

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.

95:7

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِٱلدِّينِ ﴿٧﴾

So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?

95:8

أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ ٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَ ﴿٨﴾

Is not Allah the most just of judges?

96:1

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ﴿١﴾

Recite in the name of your Lord who created -

96:2

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ﴿٢﴾

Created man from a clinging substance.

96:3

ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ ﴿٣﴾

Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -

96:4

ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ ﴿٤﴾

Who taught by the pen -

96:5

عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴿٥﴾

Taught man that which he knew not.

96:6

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ ﴿٦﴾

No! [But] indeed, man transgresses

96:7

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ ﴿٧﴾

Because he sees himself self-sufficient.

96:8

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ ﴿٨﴾

Indeed, to your Lord is the return.

96:9

أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

Have you seen the one who forbids

96:10

عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١٠﴾

A servant when he prays?

96:11

أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ﴿١١﴾

Have you seen if he is upon guidance

96:12

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ ﴿١٢﴾

Or enjoins righteousness?

96:13

أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١٣﴾

Have you seen if he denies and turns away -

96:14

أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ﴿١٤﴾

Does he not know that Allah sees?

96:15

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ ﴿١٥﴾

No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock -

96:16

نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ ﴿١٦﴾

A lying, sinning forelock.

96:17

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾

Then let him call his associates;

96:18

سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ ﴿١٨﴾

We will call the angels of Hell.

96:19

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩ ﴿١٩﴾

No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].

97:1

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةِ ٱلْقَدْرِ ﴿١﴾

Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.

97:2

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ ﴿٢﴾

And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?

97:3

لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ ﴿٣﴾

The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.

97:4

تَنَزَّلُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ ﴿٤﴾

The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.

97:5

سَلَـٰمٌ هِىَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ ٱلْفَجْرِ ﴿٥﴾

Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.

98:1

لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ ﴿١﴾

Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence -

98:2

رَسُولٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتْلُواْ صُحُفًا مُّطَهَّرَةً ﴿٢﴾

A Messenger from Allah, reciting purified scriptures

98:3

فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ ﴿٣﴾

Within which are correct writings.

98:4

وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ ﴿٤﴾

Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.

98:5

وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ وَيُؤْتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ‌ۚ وَذَٲلِكَ دِينُ ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ ﴿٥﴾

And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.

98:6

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ ﴿٦﴾

Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.

98:7

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ ﴿٧﴾

Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.

98:8

جَزَآؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا‌ۖ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُواْ عَنْهُ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ رَبَّهُۥ ﴿٨﴾

Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.

99:1

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ﴿١﴾

When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake

99:2

وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ﴿٢﴾

And the earth discharges its burdens

99:3

وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا لَهَا ﴿٣﴾

And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" -

99:4

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ﴿٤﴾

That Day, it will report its news

99:5

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ﴿٥﴾

Because your Lord has commanded it.

99:6

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْاْ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ﴿٦﴾

That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.

99:7

فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُۥ ﴿٧﴾

So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it,

99:8

وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُۥ ﴿٨﴾

And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

100:1

وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ ضَبْحًا ﴿١﴾

By the racers, panting,

100:2

فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ قَدْحًا ﴿٢﴾

And the producers of sparks [when] striking

100:3

فَٱلْمُغِيرَٲتِ صُبْحًا ﴿٣﴾

And the chargers at dawn,

100:4

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا ﴿٤﴾

Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,

100:5

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا ﴿٥﴾

Arriving thereby in the center collectively,

100:6

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ ﴿٦﴾

Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.

100:7

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٲلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ ﴿٧﴾

And indeed, he is to that a witness.

100:8

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ ﴿٨﴾

And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.

100:9

۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ ﴿٩﴾

But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered

100:10

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴿١٠﴾

And that within the breasts is obtained,

100:11

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرُۢ ﴿١١﴾

Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Acquainted.

101:1

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿١﴾

The Striking Calamity -

101:2

مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٢﴾

What is the Striking Calamity?

101:3

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٣﴾

And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?

101:4

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ ﴿٤﴾

It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,

101:5

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ ﴿٥﴾

And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.

101:6

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٲزِينُهُۥ ﴿٦﴾

Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],

101:7

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ﴿٧﴾

He will be in a pleasant life.

101:8

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٲزِينُهُۥ ﴿٨﴾

But as for one whose scales are light,

101:9

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ ﴿٩﴾

His refuge will be an abyss.

101:10

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ ﴿١٠﴾

And what can make you know what that is?

101:11

نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ ﴿١١﴾

It is a Fire, intensely hot.

102:1

أَلْهَـٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ﴿١﴾

Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

102:2

حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ ﴿٢﴾

Until you visit the graveyards.

102:3

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣﴾

No! You are going to know.

102:4

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾

Then no! You are going to know.

102:5

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٥﴾

No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...

102:6

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ ﴿٦﴾

You will surely see the Hellfire.

102:7

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٧﴾

Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.

102:8

ثُمَّ لَتُسْــَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٨﴾

Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.

103:1

وَٱلْعَصْرِ ﴿١﴾

By time,

103:2

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ ﴿٢﴾

Indeed, mankind is in loss,

103:3

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْاْ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْاْ بِٱلصَّبْرِ ﴿٣﴾

Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

104:1

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ ﴿١﴾

Woe to every scorner and mocker

104:2

ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالاً وَعَدَّدَهُۥ ﴿٢﴾

Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.

104:3

يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ ﴿٣﴾

He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

104:4

كَلَّا‌ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ ﴿٤﴾

No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.

104:5

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ ﴿٥﴾

And what can make you know what is the Crusher?

104:6

نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ ﴿٦﴾

It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled,

104:7

ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْــِٔدَةِ ﴿٧﴾

Which mounts directed at the hearts.

104:8

إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ﴿٨﴾

Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them

104:9

فِى عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةِۭ ﴿٩﴾

In extended columns.

105:1

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ ﴿١﴾

Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?

105:2

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ ﴿٢﴾

Did He not make their plan into misguidance?

105:3

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ ﴿٣﴾

And He sent against them birds in flocks,

105:4

تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ ﴿٤﴾

Striking them with stones of hard clay,

105:5

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولِۭ ﴿٥﴾

And He made them like eaten straw.

106:1

لِإِيلَـٰفِ قُرَيْشٍ ﴿١﴾

For the accustomed security of the Quraysh -

106:2

إِۦلَـٰفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيْفِ ﴿٢﴾

Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer -

106:3

فَلْيَعْبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ ﴿٣﴾

Let them worship the Lord of this House,

106:4

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفِۭ ﴿٤﴾

Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.

107:1

أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ﴿١﴾

Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

107:2

فَذَٲلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلْيَتِيمَ ﴿٢﴾

For that is the one who drives away the orphan

107:3

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ﴿٣﴾

And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

107:4

فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٤﴾

So woe to those who pray

107:5

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ ﴿٥﴾

[But] who are heedless of their prayer -

107:6

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَآءُونَ ﴿٦﴾

Those who make show [of their deeds]

107:7

وَيَمْنَعُونَ ٱلْمَاعُونَ ﴿٧﴾

And withhold [simple] assistance.

108:1

إِنَّآ أَعْطَيْنَـٰكَ ٱلْكَوْثَرَ ﴿١﴾

Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.

108:2

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنْحَرْ ﴿٢﴾

So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone].

108:3

إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلْأَبْتَرُ ﴿٣﴾

Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.

109:1

قُلْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ ﴿١﴾

Say, "O disbelievers,

109:2

لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ ﴿٢﴾

I do not worship what you worship.

109:3

وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَـٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ ﴿٣﴾

Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.

109:4

وَلَآ أَنَا۟ عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ ﴿٤﴾

Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.

109:5

وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَـٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ ﴿٥﴾

Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.

109:6

لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ ﴿٦﴾

For you is your religion, and for me is my religion."

110:1

إِذَا جَآءَ نَصْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْفَتْحُ ﴿١﴾

When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest,

110:2

وَرَأَيْتَ ٱلنَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِى دِينِ ٱللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا ﴿٢﴾

And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes,

110:3

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْهُ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ تَوَّابَۢا ﴿٣﴾

Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.

111:1

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ ﴿١﴾

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.

111:2

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ﴿٢﴾

His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.

111:3

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ ﴿٣﴾

He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

111:4

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ ﴿٤﴾

And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood.

111:5

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ ﴿٥﴾

Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.

112:1

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿١﴾

Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,

112:2

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ ﴿٢﴾

Allah, the Eternal Refuge.

112:3

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ﴿٣﴾

He neither begets nor is born,

112:4

وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ ﴿٤﴾

Nor is there to Him any equivalent."

113:1

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ ﴿١﴾

Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak

113:2

مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ﴿٢﴾

From the evil of that which He created

113:3

وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ﴿٣﴾

And from the evil of darkness when it settles

113:4

وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّـٰثَـٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ ﴿٤﴾

And from the evil of the blowers in knots

113:5

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ﴿٥﴾

And from the evil of an envier when he envies."

114:1

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ ﴿١﴾

Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,

114:2

مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ ﴿٢﴾

The Sovereign of mankind.

114:3

إِلَـٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ ﴿٣﴾

The God of mankind,

114:4

مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ ﴿٤﴾

From the evil of the retreating whisperer -

114:5

ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ ﴿٥﴾

Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -

114:6

مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ ﴿٦﴾

From among the jinn and mankind."
